More than 60% increase in impressions! How to keep the top 7 positions in Google’s difficult update

There is a saying in the digital marketing and SEO industry – “Traffic or clicks may fluctuate temporarily, but an increase in impressions means that Google is giving the green signal to the authority of your site. “

Today I have come up with a live comparison report (“Screenshot_48.png”) in Google Search Console of one of my running projects.

Today I will break down the secret of how the visibility of a site in my white-hat strategy has gone up at rocket speed, when many big sites are losing ranking due to Google’s one-on-one core algorithm updates.

1. Live dashboard data analysis (last 28 days vs. previous 28 days)

Turning on the comparison filter in Google Search Console, the impact of our work will be as clear as water:

  • Total Impressions: The site had 72.2 k impressions in the previous 28 days. After my new content and technical optimization, it has crossed 115k (1 lakh 15 thousand) in a single jump in the last 28 days! This means that Google has displayed our site in front of about 43,000 more people than before.
  • Organic Clicks: With the increase in organic clicks, the organic traffic has also increased from 1.05 k to 1.17 k.
  • Average Position: The most amazing thing is that even when this huge number of new keywords started to rank on Google, the overall average position of the site did not drop a bit and remained steady at number 7. This reign of Google’s first page is the real wealth of the business.

2. How did I achieve this Massive Visibility and Steady Ranking?

In my 6 + years of experience, 3 key techniques have worked behind the way the purple and blue solid lines of the graph (the current data) are rising to the sky beyond the dotted line (the previous data):

  • 1. Keyword Clustering and Content Gap Analysis: I have created a deep content cluster on the main topic of the site. I updated the content by identifying the LSI and related keywords that the competing sites were missing. As a result, Google has started giving impressions to the site in a dozen new keywords.
  • 2. Quality Signal and User Intent Tuning: Due to the huge increase in impressions, the CTR has temporarily come down from 1.5% to 1%, which is very normal for such a massive visibility growth. But to keep the average position at 7, I’m re-optimizing the meta titles and hook lines so that these 1,15,000 impressions are quickly converted into thousands of clicks.
  • 3. Technical SEO and indexing boost: Duplicate tags and indexing errors in the backend have been permanently cleaned up so that Google bots can crawl new optimized pages without any interruption.

3. What does it mean for the business?

If the impression graph of your website is stuck in a straight line or is going down, then it should be understood that Google does not consider your content relevant.

An investment in the right white-hat SEO will put your brand hundreds of miles ahead of competitors.
