Google’s official updates are coming with much higher speed and intensity this year in 2026 than in 2025.

1. Challenge: Why there is so much update and traffic fluctuation from last year (2025) to this year (2026)?
Until 2025, Google’s main focus was on AI content production and basic on-page optimization.
But in 2026, Google’s biggest concern is mass-produced low quality AI content, content spamming and numerous black-hat techniques.
Google no longer ranks you only for good keyword optimization.
In fact the 2026 algorithm is checking the user’s real experience, authority and knowledge.
Google is also rolling out core updates and spam upgrades a lot more this year than last year to weed them out as spammers are employing new strategies.
2. What does the 2026 update include?
As we can see in the live dashboard screenshot (“Screenshot_1000.png”) we have supplied, there are 5 big changes from the beginning of 2026 up to June:
- Core Updates (March & May 2026): These are primarily modifications to Google’s basic ranking system. So, sites with deep material produced solely for search engines are falling in position.
- Spam Updates (March & June 2026): Google has supercharged its spam detection tool powered by AI, SpamBrain. Those exploiting scraped material or building false links in email are being penalized.
- Update Discover (Feb 2026): The quality of user engagement has made it more difficult for what content will go to Google Discover Feed.
